Grants are confined to tax-exempt organizations located in Summit County Ohio (which have received tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service). 

The Foundation will not provide funding for the following:

Contributions to individuals

Purchase of raffle prizes/raffle tickets

Wages and/or benefits

Pay-off deficits or pre-existing debt

Operating expenses

Capital campaigns

Internships

Government, political, legislative, or lobbying entities

Medical research

Nor any organization that discriminates because of age, race, creed, gender, handicap, sexual orientation, ethnicity

or national origin.

                                                                                                                  

The Board reviews grant applications on a quarterly basis. Although grant applications are accepted throughout the year, grant applications will be reviewed in March, May, July, September, and November.

Grant applications may be submitted January 1st through October 31st. All grant applications received after November 1st, will be reviewed and considered at the first Board of Trustees meeting of the following year.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Grant requests from organizations and/or programs outside Summit County (Ohio) will not be considered for funding.

  • All grant recipients must be a qualified tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)3 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. If there is a change in the recipient's tax-exempt status, the Foundation reserves the right to terminate the grant and request the grant money be returned to the Foundation.

  • The grant must be used for the purpose as described in the grant application and related correspondence, and may not be used for any other purposes without the Foundation’s prior written approval.

  • The Foundation may request the return of any unused grant funds remaining at the end of the project/program period. The project period will be considered twelve months from receipt of grant funds unless specified otherwise in the grant application. Should funds remain at such time, the grant recipient must contact the Foundation to discuss options including extending the project period, returning unused grant funds, and/or other options.

  • The Foundation reserves the right to discontinue, withhold, or modify any payments or the the payment schedule made under this grant, or to require a total or partial refund of any grant money if, in the Foundation’s sole discretion, such action is necessary because: the organization is no longer has exempt status, the organization becomes unable to carry out the purposes of the Grant or ceases to have the appropriate means of accomplishing the purposes of the Grant.

  • All grant recipients will be required to sign a Grant Agreement before any grant money is disbursed.

  • Upon completion of the Project/Program or Grant Year, a Final Grant Report must be completed and submitted for any grant in excess of $1,000 or more. Failure to submit this Report will result in no further funding until such report is submitted.

  • At any time, the Foundation reserves the right to request an interim report and/or visit at any time during the Grant Year.

 

Upon completion of the online application you will receive an automatic response advising the application has been received and notifying you of the supporting documents necessary to complete your grant application.  Please be aware many times the response email will go to “spam or junk mail”. Supporting documents must be provided, via email, within five (5) days from the submission of the grant application.  Supporting documents must include the specific program/project's budget, board of directors and/or trustees, and executive/management staff. If your organization has not applied previously, your organization’s IRS determination letter will also be required.  WITHOUT THE REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS, THE GRANT APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED INCOMPLETE AND WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

The Foundation will accept only grant applications submitted electronically.

 

   ONLINE APPLICATION

The Foundation will send an electronic acknowledgement when the grant application has been received. Required supporting documents will be specified in this notification. Required information includes: your organization's IRS tax exemption letter (first time requests only), current Management/Executive Staff, Board of Directors and/or Trustees, and the specific program/project budget.  *** (Please note, the electronic acknowledgement email may appear in your organization's spam/junk mail.)***

Documents must be emailed to the Foundation within five (5) days of the acknowledgement email to complete your grant application.  WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION THE GRANT APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED INCOMPLETE AND WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

You will be contacted should we require additional information in order to review your request.  At times, a site visit may be requested.
